ROCK ON WITH YOUR FANTASTICAL SELF

Once upon every All Hallow’s Eve, on an enchanted tropical island far, far to the south of the continental USA, there is a magical event where adults are no longer adults but return to their WildChild selves and participate with a happy and free heart in the unforgettable celebration known as Fantasy Fest!

Think Janis Joplin as Cinderella, almost naked and air-brushed in an amazing 1960s psychedelic rainbow. Her carriage has been created from a well-loved, 3-wheel bicycle disguised as a shimmering pink papier-mache pumpkin with an electrified winged-dolphin perched on top. At midnight, she takes Peter Pan (an architect) and Tinkerbelle (a local judge) for a ride in the slick modification behind the bicycle – an attached trailer, constructed from a plastic sea kayak atop a Red-Flyer wagon. There’s never been a better Neverland than Key West on October 30th!

What, may you ask, does it feel like to participate in Fantasy Fest? Picture mature and serious “adults” shedding their everyday ‘responsible’ personas (and oftentimes their clothes.) Like Superman stepping from his telephone booth, they are transformed from accountants, doctors, lawyers, business executives, parents, graphic artists, police officers, restaurant owners, teachers and any number of other respected occupations into every imaginable and unimaginable character – the quintessential celebration of fantasy!

FANTASY

A CREATION OF THE IMAGINATION
A FREELY ENVISIONED THOUGHT OR INVENTION
A WHIMSICAL NOTION
A CAPRICE
FORMED AS IF BY UNRESTRAINED FANCY
